Harry,

someone will have to give up his stand to settle this. Then we need to modernize the voting system, so even Scumbria won't be able to dispute the outcome. Now that would be one helluva system.

Exactly. These sorts of confrontations are sometimes required to get things fixed. In this day and age of digital communications, there are no excuses for this kind of crap.

Of course, it would also be nice if I could get my cell phone to work in downtown Palo Alto.

Ted. ..Its not at all dangerous.....going after the truth never hurt anyone. Its when truth is denied that people get hurt.

Its when the truth cannot be determined, that is when it becomes dangerous. Recounting in democratic districts until Al wins will not necessarily determine truth. Revoting PB will not determine the truth. Revoting all of Fla. or the country even will not determine the truth.
And this process will end......there will be a level reached when most will know its done and it will be done.

Doing a recount honestly and above board will determine the truth. And the US Marshalls and the state officials are there to insure the honesty part.

And how many skirmishes and wars have been fought before that level was reached. This is what Scumbria said It would be irresponsible not to fight to the bitter end. Does it really sound to you that he will stop before that level if he doesn't get what he wants. The truth to him sounds like "I intend to fight until I get my version of the truth."

The bitter end is when it's determined without a doubt which candidate has won. I don't see the end as being so bitter. And the worst that can happen to get to the bitter end is that FL's absentee ballots are counted, all of FL is given a handcount, and then possibly 4 other states depending on the outcome in FL.

Unfortunately, someone has to take a stand on this issue and its better now than later.

I disagree, someone will have to give up his stand to settle this. Then we need to modernize the voting system, so even Scumbria won't be able to dispute the outcome. Now that would be one helluva system.

Yeah, you want Gore to give up his stand.....well, I want Bush to give up his stand......stalemate. So we need to go thru the process....its very simple. And when both sides are okay with that the debating with stop.

Now, let me ask you a question....what happens if we go thru a handcount of the 4 counties and the revised count reveals that Gore is the winner. Would you want Bush to step aside at that point?
