John,

At this point it doesn't matter WHO is elected, it's more important that SOMEONE is elected. I think Bush would be better for everyone, the perception, if Gore is elected, would be that he "stole" the election.

I think you are taking the events of the last few days a little too hard. Either way, 50% of the voters will feel cheated, and election reform will occur.

BTW, 18 months after Littleton, Colorado overwhelmingly passed a bill requiring background checks at gun shows. There is hope for reform, if the lesson is painful enough.

I just saw an interview with US service-men in Naples, on Italian State TV! They all said that they voted Republican, for Cheney and Bush!gg
Same goes with the US sevice-men in Aviano Air Base, and in Kosovo! I have yet to see one to say he voted democrats! After seeing this, I believe that Bush stands a good chance to win!

The press in Europe just don't get it. Here we look at the united states as a country where the government works! We even modeled our democracies based on yours. Now, people are surprised. They ask how this can happen in a country that invented hi-tech? We can imagine in Bosnia or Greece or Spain this could happen, but in the USS??

I believe that the American people are generally honest, but one never knows!! John, when the future of the presidecny hangs on a few votes, we should take out the human factor and trust the technology!

One think for sure, when this election is all over, your democracy will
not be the same! When one began to doubt an honest system that has worked for over 200 years, the things will never be the same!
