I find these 26k votes in Duval county very peculiar. The Gore campaign chairman angrily denies knowing about them before the deadline; he says he would have asked for a recount, with good reason -- 9% of ballots disqualified is ridiculous -- whyever didn't the Republicans demand a recount? it's a Republican area; most of the votes would be theirs.

The Republicans are still trying to say that manual recounts are illegitimate. From what I know, I don't think they have a leg to stand on, since Florida law clearly allows them. Aren't Republicans usually for local control?

The whole thing is very strange.
