Turn on your TV, or open you mind. It's been mentioned about 200 times in the last 24 hours.

Edit: just watch CNN or Fox News

Duval county has been cited as being heavily Republican. Some 27,000 votes were invalidated as double-punched.

jacksonville.com

"Meanwhile, they accused Jacksonville election managers of providing misleading information about the voiding of 27,000 votes in Tuesday's presidential election.

State law required the nullifications because voters marked more than one candidate or they failed to mark any candidate, but critics are bemoaning the slowness of election officials to detect the problem. The 27,000 votes were never counted, and election officials say there's no way for them to gauge the effect on either candidate."

Now the Gore campaign came in and tried to claim that they would like to see a recount in Duval, but clearly it would likely not be to their advantage to do so...

But it makes "good copy"...

I say screw it... let's have the election occur all over again... Maybe this time around people won't let their vote be taken for granted and they'll show up and do it right the first time.

As for calling you a moron, considering the vitriolic manner in which you presented your comments when the reported facts do not support them, what is one supposed to do, give you a hug and a pat on the head... <VBG>

And listen.. manual recounts are for those events where someone can support a charge of fraud, manipulation, or mechanical failure.

VOTER STUPIDITY OR CONFUSION does not meet the standard and that is why Bush's rep, James Baker, is taking this to Federal Court for an injunction.

Furthermore, when manual review of a ballot starts incorporating subjective elements, such as trying to decipher exactly which candidate the voter was attempting to vote for, then fraud and manipulation can easily occur.
At least a machine is objective and not able to modify the results.

And both electronic recounts have Bush ahead. What more do we need to do? Keep recounting until enough Gore votes are secured to win him the presidency?

The ballot was designed by a democrat, was approved by both parties, and sample ballots were sent out. Aside from holding a voter's hand and punching the holes for them, there is nothing else that can be done. And that voter had every right to ask for a new ballot if they made a mistake.

As for the Republican "agenda", from my perspective all I see are vain attempts to prevent the unraveling of everything this country once represented. I certainly don't see the devisive rhetoric that is present on the left (aka as Jessa Jackson, Sharpton, Mfume, Alec Baldwin, Wexler, Streisand, ... etc, etc, etc).

It certainly seems that way from the manner in which laws that were written based upon religious morality, by VERY DEVOUT religious individuals, the founders of this nation, are being quickly cast aside without the most cursory thought about whether we will like the result.

I see an administration that was willing to force military personnel to accept openly gay soldiers/sailors, DESPITE the obvious disciplinary problems and morale problems that would result and impair our fighting ability.

I see an adminstration that always more than willing to foist minority moral values upon the rest of society.

I see an administration that has to spread fear and dispair, racial division, and fear-mongering in order to persuade people to vote for them (and a free day off on election for union workers doesn't hurt them either).

Liberals are ALWAYS willing to tell blacks or gays that a vote for a Republican is a vote for slavery or a sexual progrom.

Why are all of you liberals in such an all-fired hurry to destroy religion or some semblance of morality in this society? Why are you so hostile towards it?

I just have a hard time with all of this moral relativism that says that today's moral values will not be appropriate 10 years from now.

I just don't buy it... Just like the hippies who practiced "free love" in the '60s, these kinds of sexual fads are temporary and eventually everyone realizes that the center of society is the family.
