not really, it has happened and will happen again....major difference this time is that it caught those who never knew or respected history of previous corrections, a bit off balance. if one doesn't understand the natural ebb and flow of the market, which especially in it's inefficient state, causes excess to be wrung out, then they are fearless in any attempts to "out think" the market.

best to step aside at times like these and wait until a normalization appears.

but there is a saving grace, that hasn't existed in prior corrections, that is the liquidity in the market.

no need to always be in the market, learn your risk tolerance and aversion, and always take your initial investment off of the table, along with any additional excess gains.....try to play the market as a "casino", and the house always wins....
