Greg, I don't believe in God because I came to the conclusion that the whole idea was contrived by men. It is clear that God is created in man's image, not the other way around. It has nothing whatsoever to do with my childhood. I didn't hate my father, and I had no need to poke every woman that I saw. It is the result of rational thought. If you have a need to find a psychological reason for my disbelief to make you feel more comfortable, so be it.

Now the real question for the psychiatrists is "why do most people have the deep need for an irrational belief in God in the absence of any evidence for one?"
