<ot>15 yrs or so ago, I was working for a company trying to design an integrated welfare system for the state. During data gathering, it was decided SSN# was not a good system key. It is only reasonable, a few decades ago, one can walk into any SSA office to get a [new] SSN#! Thanks goodness, they have tightened that up in the last 2 decades <G>!

I do believe we should modernize the system

I mean, with strong authenication and thrown away id, maybe it can be hack proof[able] by using VPN instead of internet. The problem is, if the confused individuals in PB are indeed learning curve challenged, we will still need polling place so help can be provided, i.e., no one-click voting <VBG>!

best, Bosco

Zeev,

Use the exact same principle as credit card numbers. Why don't people just make up 20 digit VISA numbers? The reason is the statistical probability of coming of with a real, working VISA number is nil.

For 200 Million people you have:

99E18/200E6 = 1 in 4.95E11 chance of hitting a valid number.

Now if you add letters to the code, it becomes astronomical of finding a good code.

Plus, people hack and are deviate to make money. There's no money to be made here by hacking the votes.
