I have always felt that those interested in manipulating an election (Democratic and Republican) the paper punch out ballot is a thing of beauty. And thats' why we still have it.

How do those things work. I've never used one in 30 years of voting; I've always colored or x'd in the block. Do you put the ballot in some sort of physical carrier and then use a stylus to punch the hole. Is there any way for the voter to know whether the hole is punched out or just hanging on?

Anyone know of any pure plays in ballot counting companies?
