Hi TP
I don't think it follows that just because something is historical it is therefore the invention of man. is Abe Lincoln an invention of man? Jesus Christ came into this world in a place called Bethlehem. He lived a blameless life and laid that life down so others might live. He rose again the third day as a verification that what he claimed about himself and God, was true. This falls into the category of history and cannot be proven in the same way that you might determine if there is a jug of milk in your fridge. Have you read the book by Simon Greenleaf testimony of the Evangelists? He was a Harvard law prof who examined the NT in light of a legal evidence perspective. He found that unless you used a double standard then the NT documents must be accepted at face vale the same as any legal historic document. That doesn't mean it's true of course but they claim to be eyewitness accounts and cannot be as easily dismissed as many here might suppose.
BTW congratulations on your daughters Bat Mitzva. We went to our friends Bar Mitzva for their Son a couple of years ago and we thought it started at 7am so we showed up only to find we were three or four hours early, so we stayed and enjoyed the service. It was a very interesting experience. I was totally shocked when the Scripture was read that says " Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness"
Have a Good day
Greg
