Let's see---yesterday it was alcohol-related brain damage, and today you intuit that Bush is "spectacularly cognitively challenged", incapable of running the country, and dyslexic!

It's funny, because, when studying Gore, I have an equally negative intuition about him, his character(or lack of), his ability to govern, his honesty, his true intelligence (as opposed to his glib ability to spout mind-numbing, often irrelevant, facts), and what I (intuitively) sense is a large void where the man's true self should be found. It's funny how our guts work. I respect your gut, having known you for a while, and I have confidence in my own, having seen it often prove correct! What do we do!

I am not declaring that GW is not what you think, merely that I think it's important to note that your statements are based on your own opinions and interpretations of GW, rather than known facts about the extent and intensity of his alcohol consumption or psychological tests of his cognitive abilities, just as mine are based on my own observations of Gore. Others interpret differently and who knows how much credence we should give our intuition. I think it is fair for you to say you are concerned that his inability to speak well and coherently will interfere with his ability to do the job, but it is mean-natured to attribute this to ARBD.

In GW's defense, not everyone is a glib public speaker. (I am terrible when faced with more than 2 or 3 people). It has nothing to do with intelligence, but verbal facility. That said, there isn't a lot of evidence that Bush is a deep thinker.
Also, when faced with long, tedious reports, it seems not unreasonable for an executive to ask for a bottom line. I asked my husband (who runs a pretty large company) and he said it's often done in the interest of time, and is just a different management style, and that the person who insists on studying every detail can end up micromanaging, not listening, and demanding control- which is what concerns me about Gore.
