You know when a civilization has peaked when the lawyers have influence on everything including presidential elections.Lawyers are like lampreys and remoras, sucking the life from the proletariat.

Hi Pezz
Being Canadian, I wonder if I am missing something. Why is nobody asking why only three or four heavily Democratic counties are subject to this hand recount? How was this decided and why not hand count them all?
Just wondering.
Have a good day
Greg

Right,

Unfortunately, so is the deadline for the count. The law instructed counties to hire enough counters as neccessary to finish their work by deadline. Again, if the Secretary of State accepted late submissions from a county knowing full well that they in fact stilted the results for one candidate or the other, she would be guilty of partisan bias, in this case for Gore. It ain't gonna happen.

She may ultimately be ordered to accept hand-counts late from ALL counties.
