No candidate or party is going to represent us perfectly; we can only choose the best alternative- the one that will cause the least damage to our personal beliefs.

It is very difficult when you are trying to explain a stand that isn;t built on the rock of Christian faith. The religious right, by nature of this faith, is unable to move beyond it into any other moral perspective, and the discussion is doomed before it begins. I know of no solution other than that of separating church and state as much as possible. If they will not interfere with my right to choose, I will not ever tell them that they are limited in their right to reproduce.

I am personally opposed to abortion, by the way. As a social worker who was forced by the state to hold a 15 year old's hand through the termination of a second trimester fetus, when I would willingly have adopted that baby, I would prefer to see every baby brought to term and raised by loving parents in a perfect world.
Wouldn't we all?
