Here's a current canadian experiment in direct democracy via referendum - Message 14806907 Some things the state just can't control even when it feels able to justify the attempt, and abortion is clearly one of them, it has always been with us and always will .... i am very very opposed to it as well, but i respect only those who give practical and concrete hands-on help in the matter ... among our informal group of friends and neighbours there are a couple of fundamental yet civil and useful 'christians' and an ex-social worker with a long list of nauseating stories that make me aware of what a sheltered life i've led, and glad of it. Church and state will stay separate, if for no other reason than that there are multiple religions, and they know it's open warfare between them if one ever dominates ... but that doesn't mean they'll all stop pushing, either.
