Dougr,
More OT. OK, I won't argue for the electoral college; I can't tell if it's the electoral college of the legal system that's broke, but...
One thing I hope we'll all remember during the ensuing debates on what to do about aforementioned college is the founding fathers' infinite wisdom regarding majority rule but a minority voice.
I think that minority voice bit has a lot to do with the greatness of this country (along with the separation & balance of power) and hesitate to imagine what it would be like if a simple majority rule was in place, something akin to mob rule, I should think. Probably still only allow white land owners to vote, etc. etc. etc. Is the view of the masses in a few densely populated areas really what's best for the whole country? Maybe a system that gives the lesser populated regions a little extra clout isn't all that bad? Let's be careful out there!
So, enough about politics (from me anyway). Back to your regular programming.
FWIW...Alski
P.S. As sad as the underlying satire was, the lottery post was pretty funny.
