Dems would love to give up soft money. They can never compete with the GOP corporate donors. It's the GOP that's afraid to do without their big tit. If I were a GOP leader though now I'd start going against my party like McCain did and advocating a new start. That would really energize the GOPand maybe help it become a progressive party again capable of reprenting a majority of the people outside rural areas. Maybe then you'd even start getting minorities into your party without having to lie to them.
