No, I don't. Why shouldn't the states have the same crack at the Presidency, a different branch of government, that they have at the Congress?

Its not ridiculous in the least. Our founding fathers were brilliant. The EC insures that neither of the candidates can ignore the smaller states. Moreover, its a moot point, the smaller states will never agree to amend the Constitution in this way. JLA
