Not entirely true Michael. That law applies even to the counties in Texas that still use punch cards. (There evidently still are some there.)

Sure, she'll take a lot of flack from the phony Gore supporters. But we all know how much integrity people like Daley and Gore have.

Ironically they are looking like they have more integrity now than Bush and Baker.

Katherine Harris could indeed throw a monkey wrench into things, but not only do I think she would be repudiated, I think she would see the end of her elective days in Florida or anywhere else.

Have you even read the Texas statute? I have, and you're flat wrong. Although most counties in Texas use the hand filled ballots, a number of them use the punch card. The hand count is considered more "accurate" by the Texas law in all elections there. The other big Republican lie is that the staute has uniform standards. Read the statute....no such thing in that law.

Boy are you deluded. Under Florida law Gore has a perfect right to ask for those recounts. Now he's even offering to let Bush recount the entire state. There is no way in hell the election will end Saturday. I know Bush forces don't want to see the true vote count but every single hand count has found flaws, even the ones the GOP have had done, and with the race this close flaws can simply not be allowed. Also I have seen the statute p[ublished which Bush signed into law. It says clearly that hand counts are the prefered methods over machines to settle a disputed election result. And this result is definitely disputed. Not only that but it is Gore's right to dispute it, just as the GOP are disputing in Iowa and New Mexico. Harris is trying to stop the recounts for purely partisan reasons but it won't work. She has just hoisted herself up onto her own petard and has hoisted Bush up with her. No way people will accept a final verdict on Staurday. Nor shoudl they. Please get real.
