A response from a friend of mine who lives in another country to the E-mail I posted earlier:

I appreciate you trying to keep me informed, but to tell you honestly, I´ve
never seen such one-sided, bigoted and misinformed attitudes about a
political leader or Christians in general in my life. The ignorance of this
piece just leaves my mouth open. I mean, if Day was Jewish, or Muslim, or
anything else, do you think this sort of innuendo would fly?

Why are Canadians so afraid of having a Christian Prime Minister? Americans
don´t seem to have any problem with it. Both Gore and Bush claim to be
Christians (whether they actually are, only God knows.)The point is: Have
you noticed that being religious is a political advantage in the US, while
in Canada people are so close-minded that it is a huge political liability?

So Day is in favour of capital punishment, "American-style" work camps (OH
MY!) and creationism. So he´s aganist the killing of unborn babies and the
extension of special rights to people based on their sexual orientation.
Notice that there is no reference which says that Day would strip rights
away from gays or in any way contribute to prejudice against gay citizens.
All this trashy e-mail does is try to scare people based on anti-Christian
discrimination based on ignorance and fear of truly pluralistic society
where people who share Day´s platform actually get a say in the political
process.

The author of the e-mail below probably values his freedom of expression. If
he exercised it a bit more responsibly, perhaps he wouldn´t have to worry so
much about what respecting other people´s freedom of expression, thought and
religion actually means.

In other words, show me a place where Stockwell Day says that Jean Chrétien
shouldn´t be PM because he´s Catholic, or Svend Robinson shouldn´t be an MP
because he´s gay. JUST BECAUSE DAY IS A CHRISTIAN IS NO REASON WHY HE
SHOULDN´T BE PRIME MINISTER. And he shouldn´t have to be subjected to
fear-mongering based on distorted half-truths and outright lies such as is
happening in Canada right now.

One more question: Where is so-called Canadian tolerance at times like
these? It doesn´t seem to apply to candidates at 16 Sussex Drive who happen to
believe in Jesus Christ.

I am in favor of freedom of choice and will vote against anyone who tries to takes those freedoms, in regards to any issue, away from me. Those freedoms come first ahead of fiscal policy.
