Craig and all,
To stick my 2 cents into this: with this settlement, (a) there are no more legal expenses or distractions; (b) '987 has been conceded valid by Lexar and the courts, so more agreements can be expected by bigger fish than Lexar; (c) Lexar may still be kicking, but they haven't been able to come even close to making money without paying royalties, how will they do so when they are paying four percent more?

I never expected Sandisk to get much cash from this case. It was always, to my mind, more a test of the validity of the patent. The patent is valid. Can it be worked around as easily as Lexar appears to claim? Well, maybe, Reimer will probably claim something like that later this morning, but to judge from his comments when the IPO came out, this man is a loose cannon who really will say anything to get his stock price up. I am guessing that Lexar's lawyers did not get much sleep last night contemplating today's press conference.
