I think they are doing far more damage than they realize. Despite their own personal shortfalls in integrity by hypocritically disavowing the validity of hand recounts, that have surely diminished them individually, they are putting Republicans nationally in the same hole. If Bush loses these court cases he will have set back a decade of effort on the part of the Republicans to try and capture the middle ground on many issues. They will be right back where they were with Nixon and Watergate, with the country remembering all over why they cannot be trusted - their win at any cost tactics. Katherine Harris is already the poster babe for that now. And Bush is raining it down on all Republicans with this bald attempt to subvert the will of the people of Florida by endorsing these high-handed tactics.
