Bush Presidency is D.O.A. The main topic of discussion for the next four years will be the election - How Gore won the popular vote and lost the electoral vote because of a Republican Party functionary. This topic will get as much coverage as Monica Lewenski did the past two years. Democrats in the Senate will feel free to filibuster and stonewall every Republican initiative while they wait for 2002 when many more Republicans than Democrats are up for election. W does not have the political skills, communication skills or even the desire to unify the divisions. He just wants to be President to please his Dad.
There will be tremendous pressure from the right wing for tax cuts, right wing judicial appointments etc but nothing will be accomplished. In the meanwhile, economic growth will slow until Greenspan gets his wish of 2% to 3% growth. Of course, unemployment will go up but increased unemployment has never bothered the Republican Party in the past so don't expect them to do anything about it. You won't see much of W except when he gets on the helicopter to go to Camp David. He will not hold press conferences because he is not up to the job. He will deliver canned and boring State of the Union messages with no new initiatives. And so it goes....
