More Americans died in Vietnam during Nixon's presidency than Johnson's. Look it up

Michael, you have to re-analyze your data feed, that's all I'm saying.

Hi kb,

I'm not as eloquent as many on this thread who communicate their views with flare and passion. Vietnam discussions will bring out the best and worst in many folks and these issues probably shouldn't be discussed on this thread. I didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest by pointing out the fact that Ike got us into that fiasco. I thought I pointed out that Kennedy and Johnson are to to blame as well by not 'fixing' the situation. As you pointed out, they only made the situation worse.

BTW, I believe I do a pretty good job of filtering out the media. My impressions of GWB is based on what comes out of his mouth, not the 5 to 20 second clips that are all the rave these days on TV. From all I have seen, the man is NOT a stupid person but I continue to have the concerns I expressed in the previous post about his ability to communicate under pressure since I feel this is a very important factor for any US President.

As to the Democrats, their actions speak louder than their words. Had they used the Florida loss to their advantage, had they used their power to change the way ALL elections are handled in this country, had they used the situation to 'rally the troops' in an effort to change the world for the better, ........etc... I believe we need new leadership from both parties, period.

I don't subscribe to the doom and gloom constantly posted by Slider and many of the gold bugs. Are there serious problems? Of course there are. Will these issues be changed over night? Of course not.

I don't believe the US is a house of card waiting to collapse as soon as a Republican is elected to the Presidency. I will wait for GWB to prove he is the leader he's represented himself to be. I will watch carefully the actions of the congress and the new administration to see how they handle the problems facing the nation. If we get trickle down economics II, you can bet your ass that every problem facing this country will be blamed on the opposing party.

best regards,
Michael
