Apparently somebody just made a tender offer for 15 million ABX shares at $20 Canadian. That probably has something to do with the late rally in gold stocks. A very low tender, but SOMEBODY with big bucks thinks ABX is undervalued.

WHILE OUR NATIONAL DEBT DECREASES, GSE DEBT SKYROCKETS

fanniemaewatch.org

Just another reason why the we're-paying-down-the-debt mantra is smoke and mirrors.

The GSE's are getting attention only recently, but I think this one factor goes a long way to explaining the 90's. And to why the money that was created flowed where it did. And to explaining the behavior of the Euro of late. It's all fun until someone get spoked in the eye. But I'll tell you this: I am going to be hellaciously pissed if the taxpayer get stuck holding the bag for this junk mortgage portfolio.
