With promotional fees like that, perhaps Mr. Gilder doesn't need to invest.

Reminds me of the old Irish proverb: Tell somebody there's two birds in the bush and charge him one bird in advance for your services.

<<You failed to address the $100,000 payment. With promotional fees like that, perhaps Mr. Gilder doesn't need to invest>>

Let me just say that this story is far from concluded and I am trying to verify some of the statements Crowe made re: incorrect info in the GTR which in my mind is the more important issue.

With regards to the $100,000?? It was a "solicitation for corporate sponsorship" for a conference not a bill. I get solicitations for stuff everyday and most of it goes in the trash.

Gilder routinely has sponsors for all his conferences <ie: advertisers,> so I don't find this out of the ordinary. The timing could have been a little strange, but I don't find it unusual for a company whose CEO is speaking at a conference to want to add their name as a sponsor. I think Crowe is really stretching there. In fact, as I recall Crowe first said he received a sizeable bill for the speaking engagement??? Not exactly the same thing, imo.
