I have no doubt the persuasion will turn from philosophical to monetary before it's all over. The ugliest might even be threats to "expose" elector's wrongdoings. I think Gore is willing to stoop so low, witness the blatant threats against Harris.

They will need three to switch because 2 would throw it into a tie where Bush would win.

Or, according to another widely-broadcast source in the media, Bob is engaged in "digging up dirt" on Bush electors. That would be more typical of the new American totalitarians that have just lost in their attempt to steal an election...

Dream on.

>>Who selects the Electors?
The process for selecting electors varies throughout the United States. Generally, the political parties nominate electors at their State party conventions or by a vote of the party's central committee in each State. Electors are often selected to recognize their service and dedication to their political party. They may be State elected officials, party leaders, or persons who have a personal or political affiliation with the Presidential candidate. Then the voters in each State choose the electors on the day of the general election. The electors' names may or may not appear on the ballot below the name of the candidates running for President, depending on the procedure in each State.<<

I can just see the argument. Please Mr. Elector, aren't you impressed by the fine way Daley and Jesse Jackson have presented Gore's case. - -vbg-

Hi Greg,

As the hardball continues, interesting things are happening in the media world. I've been trying to follow C-SPAN in order to get the most information and the least spin. I'm finding that there is an interesting phenomenon happening on "Washington Journal", the call-in show. Yesterday, at about 5-6PM EST, there were a flurry of callers on the "Gore voter" line who all were stating that they were disgusted with their candidate and were in the process of changing their voter registration. I found this interesting because the same script had been read earlier in the day on the Rush Limbaugh show. Now, I can't conclusively prove that the Shrub/Rove/Baker dirty tricks department are responsible for the calls or if it is just 'ditto heads', but either way, I was incensed and called and emailed C-SPAN to alert them that their impartiality was being violated by dissemblers.

Today, perhaps there was a tit for tat, but I believe the absolute best thing I've heard on C-SPAN today is a Republican from Iowa who's family has voted a straight ticket since 1854. He's disgusted with the party and considering it to be time to change. He feels that the Bush campaigners are acting completely illegitimately in their rush to judgement.

IMO, the GOP is at great risk of losing the hearts and minds of its moderate, intelligent and honest members after this affair unwinds.

I have no idea why you keep battling the knuckleheads on this thread, but I'm glad you do. :)

Keep up the good fight for honesty and intelligence, Ray

TG--Every single Elector should carry with them ALL the time a tape recorder....or two...better yet...one hidden, and one in the open. Ready for every conversation that might come their way. Wouldn't THAT be interesting??!!
