Intcfan, Don't forget this famous quote from the bushster. "Mr. Bush, countering the vice president, vehemently rejected the accuracy of hand recounts. "I was encouraged tonight that Vice President Gore called for a conclusion to this process — we all agree," Mr. Bush said. "Unfortunately, what the vice president proposed is exactly what he has been proposing all along: continuing with selective hand recounts that are neither fair nor accurate." But in 1997 Mr. Bush signed a Texas bill into law that states that when Texas elections are recounted, "a manual recount shall be conducted in preference to an electronic recount." And this other pertinent revelation is a real gas. Makes you wonder, what are they afraid of ? "Furthermore, his offer of hand counts in every Florida county, while politically effective as a rejoinder to Republican complaints that the Democrats want recounts only in Democratic areas, was a proposal that James A. Baker III, Mr. Bush's point man in Florida, had turned down earlier."
