What really drives me crazy is that everyone has an opinion on the validity of hand recounts, and that opinion lines up neatly along party lines. I'm guilty of that myself. I'd love to hear from any thread members who have no strong feelings for either candidate -- what do they think about hand recounts in this process?

In Texas...they are not the same type of ballots...and therefore can be hand counted with accuracy and with set standards...this is not the case in Florida as we have all seen.

Texas has a different type of ballot (optical scanner I believe) which lends itself to accurate manual recounting. Texas has statewide standards to insure a uniform review.

Florida has machine ballots with perforated paper which is among the hardest type of ballot to accurately review by a human, I.E., highest error rate, needs the most interpretation to determine a voters intent, etc. The chad tend to fall out on their own & this is exasperated by handling the ballot over & over. Florida does not have any set standard for performing a manual recount, so different counties can have different standards. Heck PBC has changed their standards how many times now?

And your point was?
