v-OT-e....Hi Kodiak.

It's over I'm afraid. For what I believe is the first time in history, a big-league American politician is managing to steal an election.

I don't intend this to start a political squall distracting our thread, but sometimes I despair for what our country is becoming.

The idea that the artful management of public perception as it is served up on that 'Long Handled Spoon' can determine our leadership is appalling - if for no other reason than because it is so easily swallowed.

We do not live in a Democracy, folks. That much was never intended by our founding fathers. One might even assert that it was rather specifically avoided. Instead, they chose a representative republic. By this method of governance, they outlined the Constitution as a system designed with fair representation of the minority, governance by election of trusted representatives, and specific exclusion of public policy decisions by the mob.

It is a system of accountability and the word of law, but make no mistake, that is not what we are seeing played out in this instance.

With the Florida Supreme Court-rendered decision, Gore has succeeded in giving credibility to the whole corrupt process of recounting - and that is precisely the basis on how we make value judgements these days: video-media credibility.

And now the steady procession of non-postmarked absentee ballots are marching in. And the vote count is not really changing as much as Bush was hoping it would....

Ahh......Jesus wept.

Regards to all, and vote next time, for Crissakes.
