Is her personal belief biased? Of course it is, she is a Republican, it has to be just as if she were a Democrate it would be the other way around. But, and this is a big but, if you watch the actual court proceedings, if you take the time to get the actual documents off the net, if you go and read the actual laws of the State of Florida, her actions are unbiased, TOTALLY !!!

William, I hope you are right and Gore loses the appeal. As long as they appear unbiased and she used a reasonable criterea to decide on whether the recounts have merit, we might be OK. The one county that concerns me is the Palm Beach as they indicated irregularities with machine counts and did a reasonable test check and found that a hand recount was warranted. I just wonder if she can prove that she applied reasonable logic in her decision to not consider the recount--- in the eyes of the supreme court of Florida. I would be thrilled if you are right.

BTW- I don't live in the US so my concern is basically the markets.

And you have shown yourself, not to be bipartisan, but to be a tried and true Democrate. I sir, am a Republican second and an American first and
have no need to hide behind such silliness as your previous post declaring partiality out of one mouth and this note out of the other.

You have your right to your opinion, I have mine. I have done the above, have you?

Good evening to you too, sir!:-)

I did not hide behind anything. The question was to those that did not support Gore or Bush, not whether someone was a Dem or Republican (take a look at the original post). I am a registered Democrat, but do not blindly follow party lines and in fact have not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in the last 3 elections (I supported Nader this time). I personally did not see any significant differences between Gore or Bush (except maybe in the smarts dept), and felt that my life would experience NO difference under either.

It's not only that Harris is a Republican, but that she is Bush's deputy campaign director in Florida, was a Bush delegate, and is in line to benefit directly if he is elected. That is a greater conflict of interest than that of 99% of the Republicans in the country. She should have done the right thing and recused herself.
