The GOP propaganda machine is putting out stories that the Dems are trying to deny the military votes. Meanwhile the GOP is slowing down the hand-counts by challenging 20% of ballots, virtually every ballot which isn't for Bush or completely clear-cut. And this from the party complaining that hand re-counting was too lengthy a process. Yes, well they're not helping. They're deliberately trying to keep the process tedious and confuse the public perception of the hand recounts so they can try to challenge them in court later if they lose.

As for the absentee ballots, there are more GOP attorneys in some rooms than ballots so I doubt whether anyone would be capable of throwing out a ballot unless it's clearly faulty. Apparently most absentees sent in without signatures, witnessed signatures and/or registration numbers on them. Those all get thrown out automatically, democrat or republican.

Can't wait to get this process over with. A big headache.

Meanwhile New Mexico goes officially for Gore and his 200,000+ popular vote lead is solid. Nomatter what happens, Gore has won the popular election, though he may lose this EC vote. Both parties now are for getting rid of this winner-take-all state EC formula which disenfranchises almost all of us. I know my vote didn't matter. Did yours?

I agree - Gore is now far past the point of no return. - CAUTION - Partisan zone / post:

After whining about every vote must be counted, his indefensable actions to block the military vote IMO will come back to haunt him and be the final nail in his political career.

Whether he goes on to somehow steal this election, or if he loses - his political career is over.

There is no way IMO he will ever be able to come back in 2004, either for a 2nd illegitimate term, or to try and unseat Bush after basically declaring war on the military by having his cronies deny their votes.

Some of the American public may be able to sit back and accept the call for some recounts, etc - but to wage a full fledged campaign to block the votes of the men and woman serving our country is just plain wrong. The public will be outraged over this . He can never recover from this - so all IMO he has left to do is trudge on, doing whatever he can, both legally and illegally, in an attempt to steal this election.

Hard to believe that some considered gore a statesman. This effort clearly dispells that myth. The Gore/leiberman ticket has clearly become the win at any costs, Sore / loserman ticket.

Sorry if this post offended anyone, but an attack on the men and woman who serve our country and protect our freedom is completely uncalled for and out of line by Gore
