Here is my scenario. Bush now leads by 930 votes, even after 1000+ overseas votes are thrown out, notwithstanding the fact that the Navy (to use one example) certified that these ballots came from a US Naval vessel. OK. So what happens if, after all recounts, Gore pulls ahead by 2000 votes? The Sec of State of Florida rejects the recounted votes becuase she has 50 affidavits from Republicans who affirm that fraud, manipulation and chad-mongering occurred. THE only legal issue is whether she may reject those recounted ballots in the exercise of her discretion? I think she can. And I think if the Flo S Ct says she cannot, the system will melt down. She should have waited until today to make her decision. ANnouncing it in advance gained the Republicans nothing. That was an error. Clear in hindsight. But of the Dems put Gore ahead after the recount, she can still pull it off.
