Rsurkla, re: c't Magazine benchmarks
Some of us are anticipating how the technical press will report on the PIV. C'T Magazine, a leading German technology publication, has produced one of the first in- depth reports. It will be out Monday, and JC has obtained the benchmark scores they will report. It's the first report I've seen that compares PIV directly to DDR on production machines. This has some implications for those of us interested in Intel and Rambus. (I'd think you would be interested in those results). The implications for Intel are more significant than for Rambus if you believe that DDR will generate higher revenue for Rambus.
The Internet has brought some major changes to product launches, particularly for those interested in the performance of new platforms. (Manufacturers now have less control over how products are marketed and perceived). There are numerous channels devoted to technical analysis, and the consumer interested in high end platforms has many sources of third party information. These new channels have much more influence on perception than the manufacturers promotions in the past.
If you're not interested in the information coming out, why not just ignore it.
