Michael, I'm intrigued by your comment regarding "this seemingly new market."

I suspect I'm not the only who shares your perception. I'm wondering if the chart of ARBA isn't already a subject for nostalgia. Will we soon see its like again? What, I wonder, is your working definition, however provisional, of "this seemingly new market"?

Also, your general point on TA/chart-reading is well-taken: Everyone who invests or trades or even has an opinion about the market at some point plays technical analyst - because the markets are, in this sense, a technical construction. Even FA eventually comes down to an attenuated form of TA, even before the time comes to buy or sell. Even efficient market/random walk is undergirded by a form of TA, TA taken to an extreme - outside of which all is thought to be noise and all good trades are thought to be luck...
