Eric L: Are you saying that therefore that the use of current spectrum is doomed to slow (capped) speeds? Why?

If so, are you suggesting that Qualcomm's push for 1X and 1xEV are foolish in the extreme, since their speed will never be permitted in current spectrum.

Amazing.

Best.

Chaz

"Here in America we did not bother with (or could not bother with) WRCC guidelines so ... we ain't yet got no 3G spectrum."
----------

Self serving semantics.

3G services can be, will be provided, at least in N America, in spectrum other that that mandated by the WRCC, ETSI or UMTS as appropriate.

And it will still be 3G. And with multimode, it could barely matter less.

Was it a coincidence that they selected spectrum used by the US government, aviation, satellite, and space exploration for their 3G? Petty - and ultimately ineffectual.

>>In those countries that reserved spectrum specifically for 3G according to WRCC IMT-2000 guidelines, the first consideration for what defines 3G, is spectrum.

Nonsense. What you must necessarily do in 3G is speed. Spectrum is just where you do it.

>>Here in America we did not bother with (or could not bother with) WRCC guidelines so ... we ain't yet got no 3G spectrum, wherever the current operation is.

Nonsense. Here in the US, we will do 3G speed in existing frequencies.
