A sales tax vs income tax is an interesting issue. Some say the sales tax does much to collect from otherwise unreported income. Are food and clothing taxed there?

The drawback would be that families struggling to make ends meet shouldn't be heavily taxed to feed and clothe their children.

Is there some type of tax relief for the poor in Washington?

Off Topic: Have you ever heard of a man named Leon Nibarger? He supposedly was jailed in Washington 25 years ago for Securities Fraud or something similar. He is in Texas now.

Thanks

TG

Taxes are the bottom line nowadays. You can say what you want, do what you want, but not keep your money. 5% of taxpayers pay 95% of the taxes (IRS '98) so most people don't complain. Why would they? 95% of the people get a pass for all practical purposes and must think taxes are like Santa Klaus. I feel the gov has taken much hard work from me through taxes, but it's like C-O (carbon monoxyde)--except with taxes it's taken before you see it so it's like it was never yours. You just go to sleep and it's history.
