Its just that in order to get rid of consolidators they need to create these consortiums which serve no purpose in the traditional supply chain. I am agreeing with you for the most part, I just think you are not seeing the continuing distinction between scm and b2b - it is still there imo.

Most 3rd party exchanges without industry backing have already turned into ASPs that I am aware of... red herring has an excellent cover page on asp's if anyone is interested, it more or less says they are a bust EXCEPT the vsp model (vertical asp's) ... I have some optimism for those because hosting is getting to be so complex and some stuff like logistics requires aggregation of multiple partners. The current b2b's like buzzsaw etc. can move in there and some will survive is my guess.
