Albert,

right opposite, intel was far better off on November 19th. Intel built some expectations with upcoming p4 killer which were not realized on November 20th.

I disagree. Prior to Nov 20th, Intel dropped out of the competition for the high end (however it is defined or perceived). Now, Intel is back in the contest.

The bottom line is how many processors you sell at what prices. With P4, Intel will be able to sell few 100,000 processors in the desktop market for $500 - $600. Without P4, Intel didn't have any chip for desktop segment worht that much. In Q1, Intel will be here with a couple of million, and in Q2 or Q3, Intel's shipments of P4 may surpass Athlon.

Prior to P4, AMD was in a strong negotiating position with OEMs, now it is a contest again.

Joe

Agreed...Can't wait to find out INTC's real reason for flying such a lead balloon today...Black day in Inteland when their next generation product delivers unbalanced and slower performance than a 200 MHz slower offering by its major competitor...Just can't be interpreted positively...

Albert,

Intel would be better off delaying the chip until they would be able to establish the lead or put a special spin on not having the lead.

What makes you think that they can do that?
