What happened to the superior power-management capability of MicroOS?

"Curiously, the battery life slips down to 8 hours from the 10 or so hours found on the first PJB."

The first PJB wasn't an EDIG design.

But, you protest, it has a smaller battery!

"Looking into it further, the Treo uses a 3.7V 1100 mAh battery, whereas the PJB uses a 3.6V 1350 mAh battery."

Letsee. First, lets get this in watt-hours, since the battery voltages differ.

So, 1100 * 3.7 = 4070 mWh 3.6 * 1350 = 4860 mWh

4860 - 4070 = 790 790/4860 = .1625 The Treo has a battery capacity of 16.25% less than the PJB.

10 hours * .1625 = 1.625 hours. 10 hours - 1.625 hours = 8.375 hours.

OK, within a margin of error. I won't argue about the .375 hour, and claim that the Treo is LESS efficient than the PJB... But the Treo is no more efficient than the PJB.

So, what happened to the superior power-managemenet capability of MicroOS?
