The guys that were talking about it on RealTraders had very little downtime. One guy had one telephone order in 6 months.

That is an issue, of course. Not only do you get creamed on the vig because of their downtime, but you have to deal with a desk not properly staffed to handle an outage.

Uptime should be at least 99.9% else it can be a real problem.

How often is their system down?

The system has never been down for me in the 6 or 8 months I have used them. Globex has been down twice, once for a few minutes and once for about an hour. As to whose fault that was I do not know. The time it was down for an hour others had trouble to so I assume it was not IB. I run it on an ISDN line and that helps. The platform is very sensitive to data loss and will blank out until data is at correct level, maybe 2 or 3 seconds the few times it happened to me.

As far as fills go I have never had one single problem with fills trading futures. Most of my trades are at the market and are confirmed in 2 seconds every time.

? What is the downside here....there always is a downside.

The downside is they are only dropping the commission from $4.95 to $2.95 a contract instead of just going ahead and doing it for absolutely nothing. And to make things worse they are coming out with a brand new updated trading platform. <ggg>

Honestly, for me trading futures, I do not have a single complaint.
