OT bosco,

Anything for a cheap laugh. :).

More seriously. There's a fixed timeline between the end of an election and announcement of the results for a specific reason : the security of the ballots have to be absolute, I know that surveilance and security technology has improved drastically since the 1st elections were held, but the longer you drag it out, the more chance there is for manipulation, and the less certain you can be of the outcome.

I gave a very simple plan that could come out of any cheap action/thriller movie, and the events certainly are plausible. Which comes back to the original assertion that going with manual count over a mechanical one, you will trade one set of imperfections for another. And the tradeoff is not necessarily better.

Serious hat off. Which brings up my new cash-cow or VC vehicle for next year : an enterprise application and system for Tamperproof, verifiable correct, nation-wide voting system with a scaleable architecture and triple DES encryption.. Target customers : all states and federal govts in the world. Anyone care to draft a business plan and throw together some slides? I am thinking of a 100M valuation for a 1st round, if we consider that the potential revenue is 0.01% of the US's GDP. Add to that the potential ad revenues from pop-up adds as each voter comes to vote, and we are talking blue skies here!!! :)
