A question for the board.

If cisco and nortel are heading for a collision in the optical space which companys profit margin will win?

Does cisco's go down or nortels go up?

I know its debatable how they make their money(funky accounting etc.) but that we will leave for another discusiion.

Something has to give me thinks.

Any thoughts?

Chip equipment makers post record
in orders

North American-based semiconductor
equipment makers posted record orders of $3
billion in October, 17 percent higher than
shipments in the same period a year ago, a
trade group said.

Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International said Tuesday
that the so-called book-to-bill was 1.17, meaning that for every $1.17
in orders taken, $1 in chip-making equipment was shipped. The
three-month average of $3.04 billion is 5 percent higher than the
September 2000 level and 89 percent higher than the $1.61 billion in
orders posted a year ago.
