However, the endless, inane and repetitive political comments here do not assist objectivity. The real or 'paper' losses experienced by SUNW stockholders recently were, painful as they may be, not caused by political circumstances. The losses were caused by those who decided to own the stock as the market entered a serious bear phase. Investors can blame their losses on anyone they choose (even Al Gore) ... especially if it makes them feel better ... but whether or not such course will help them make profitable decisions in the future is questionable. Were the rolls exactly reversed I'd be saying the same thing about Bush. Okay well, I'm not sure what you mean by "exactly reversed" but since you wrote that, the Florida momentum certainly has. It will be the absolute height of hypocricy for the (tastes great - less government) Republicans to complain about a lack of uniform standards and file any motion with Federal court. Do you know what I'm saying? I was someone who thought baseball rules should apply and the tie should go the runner. I thought maybe it was the Dems turn to bow out of the close Presidential contest as Nixon did. Having said that, I'm not exactly clear on what it is that Gore is 'mucking up'. He won the popular vote. He won the electoral vote. The only thing unclear is the state in which is brother is Governor and where his cousin at the Fox affiliate declared Bush the early winner, thereby causing Gore to first mistakenly concede. The (tastes great - less government) Republicans pound the table about states rights/local government, much of which I agree with. You can't make that the cornerstone of your rhetoric and then turn around and file a complaint about it in Federal court when it doesn't serve your purpose. If that happens, it will be a low point for the Republican party (just like George W. himself). -JCJ
