Why did a machine recount show a big consistent swing towards Gore? I found the link: foxnews.com And the biggest gain came from Palm Beach County, with net gains of about +700 for bush and Pinnelas with +500. Both are Democratic counties. The total is +1200 for Gore. All the other counties amount to just noise. There were in excess of 970+ votes for Gore in those "noisy" counties......no small number in this election.....so I hardly think these votes can be written off as so much "noise". As for the 2 democratic counties having a large share of the missing votes....do you think their vote counters were only Democrats? My point is is that it may be just a little hypocritical to accuse the Gore campaign of trying to steal the election. The Bush campaign can be accused of the very same thing during the first vote count on election nite. I have been accused of being naive; nonetheless I will say that I am extremely bothered by the fact that 88% of the FL counties could not count the ballots correctly on election nite. Now what was that all about? Are you saying that these 2 Democratic counties were trying to steal the election for Bush on the original count? Why not? Can you show me evidence that they weren't....that some Republican Party counter(s) did not stack the deck for Bush?Sorry that I have to say this, but it's absurd. If anything, a claim that these counties were trying to do something fishy on the recount holds more water, since the swing was by a Democrat control county disproportionately to Gore. Do you have proof to substantiate this claim? What does that hint to you about the original count, which occured after CNN declared Gore the winner in Florida? One could conclude that the funny vote counting started right after FL was said to be going to Gore. Of course, I have no proof of this claim but its a very real possibility in a state where accurate/honest(?) vote counting seems to be as rare as a blue moon.Do you think that Bush controls CNN? It was actually Bush campaign co-chair (as you always say) Kathrine Harris who posted the results to be within 500 votes, while AP numbers had a much bigger difference. Gore retracted his concession on the basis of SOS web site. She saved Gore from a total embarrassment. I have no idea what you are saying here.By the way, she also instructed the counties to use strict Florida standard for overseas ballots rather than lax Federal rules, hurting her candidate, where she had a chance to try to gain advantage. Despite the cries of the Democratic lemmings, she is the only person with any class in all of this, calling them as she sees them. Some for one side, some for the other, but always based on law she has sworn to uphold. Yes, Ms Harris epitomizes integrity and honor....she of the $500 hotel rooms in DC on the state's nickel and who managed to pop up all over the Bush campaign trail....NH, MA, etc...presumably on FL time. Maybe the Republicans should run her in the next election for president. I understand this may be a foreign concept for you and Ted, where win at any cost is the only objective. Don't even go there.......your dubya has lost the popular vote and its still unclear whether he will win the electoral college vote....so why hasn't he done the honorable thing and conceded? Inquiring minds desperately want to know..... ted
