Bush could have asked for a recount/hand count in any county he wished. The law is clear, Gore asked, the requisite standard was met and there's no equal protection issue. None.

The Fla. legislature has no authority to deal with this issue. None.

Isn't it ironic that the party that allegedly stands for state's right would challenge a state's own determination of its process in federal court?

As for "dimpled" ballots, Fla. law provides specifically for an effort to determine the "intent of the voter". Whether these qualify is a question for Fla.

Philip, you are quite right about the EP argument. I am sceptical of any effort to get the case to the US SC, but I suspect the attempt will be made. As for the futures, well, I expect they will give way to some serious selling
