I believe you posted awile back about not accepting the Washington Times as a source. If we can't accept the Washington Times then I submit we should also not accept Mother Jones. Personally I have no problem accepting either. I would not consider a statement by either (or by any other media outlet) to be automaticly conclusive but I don't have any problem with quoteing either. (And if I did it probably would not make any one stop :)

As long as you rely on sources with such a degree of reliability as the article you posted, it's no wonder you come to the conclusions you post here.
