Cirrus, Re: Tom turns his yuppie switch off and revaluates the P4

LOL, very funny article. Tom's always an entertaining read:

"I do certainly admit that MPEG4-encoding is only one of many tasks that could run significantly faster on Pentium 4 once new SSE2-code is used in the encoders. However, these are nothing but future tunes. Right now there is Quake 3 and then is Quake 3, besides that there is only Quake 3. Have I mentioned that Pentium 4 is really good in Quake 3?"

Someone should repost the link to the Intel thread -- they were beginning to like Tom again. <g>

Edit: Just saw that that was already done.

Andreas

Wow! Something pissed Tom off.

I have to say his reaction seems a little extreme just because he found out the P4s MPEG encoding sucks as well as the rest.

OTOH when you consider that it just kicked out 50% of the benchmarks where P4 beat Athlon then I guess it justifies a re-evaluation.

Great find, and great reading for AMD fans. I wonder how Paul and Elmer will try to finagel that bashing.
