Pete, <AMD properly spends its resources on delivering high quality CPUs ...>

Now think about this, Pete. AMD has no money for software optimization, compiler support, OS support, chipsets (even 2-way SMP), platform support, server support, etc. Don't you see all of this as a problem?

<The problem for Intel is that very few P4 optimized apps are available and it does not do well with ones optimized for P3 in many cases. Finding benchmarks that both of us can agree on that are highly optimized for P4, P3, and Athlon is very, very small.>

I don't think anyone disputes your assertions here. But which platform do you think benchmarks and applications will be optimized for in the near future? We may never see enough optimized applications for Athlon. And that should scare any AMDroid back into reality.

Peter Principle - Re: "AMD properly spends its resources on delivering high quality CPUs not buggy ones "

Oh yeah ?

What's this?

"We did encounter a bug on the AMD system under Windows 2000 causing the system to pause. No amount of re-testing would solve this problem - something that may have very well affected the score. "
