Congratulations on a fantastic research job. Surely it must make the job seem to be easier when you know that if the Gore camp said something, it is probably a lie. Good going.

Michael, I'm away from my home computer and trying without much success to use an imac at 56k. I can see why their stock has suffered so. I will try to check on this when I get back home this weekend, but my recollection is that I said that Bush signed the law preferring manual recounts over machines recounts. I dont think I made any representations about who signed the Texas chad law. That is about as much as I can say at this point. I want my home computer and DSL back.

Michael, just a follow-up to my message yesterday about the genesis of the Texas law that prefers manual recounts over machine recounts. It appears to me that the preference of manual over machine recounts was part of H.B. No. 331, signed into law in 1997 by Governor Bush (Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 1349, § 65, eff. Sept. 1, 1997). As I stated yesterday, I don't think I made any representation about GW signing the Texas Chad and Dimple statute.
