Thank you for sharing your story. However, once again, you have provided an example of alleged organized-labor abuse that is more than two decades old. I mean no disrespect, but tell me something new. Tell me something I don't know.

Outside of the carmakers, not a whole lot of union factory jobs left in this country. They've all been shipped overseas, where people are willing to toil for a buck a day so the Nikes of the world can pay Michael Jordan more than all the workers in its Chinese factories combined.

I would also point out that there's a new spirit of cooperation among union workers and companies. Which is why, for instance, Ford Motor Co. recently ran a bunch of TV ads saying how good and dedicated their union employees are.

Also, the big carmakers are to be applauded for agreeing to give the UAW workers a day off (with pay) on Nov. 7 so they could take an active role in the election and teach their children that the term "democracy" is a vital, living concept, not a passive abstract noun.
