"Qualcomm has a bright future in wireless, but because of W-CDMA and an industry backlash against Qualcomm's stranglehold on CDMA, its position isn't as unassailable today as it was a year ago."

I disagree with the conclusion that QCOM's position is weaker this year then last.

If anything, it is even stronger. Consider:

1. two patent rulings in QCOM's favor asserted by the company's who are the greatest proponents of WCDMA (and a conclusion one can draw is that the challenged patents had some fairly important role in WCDMA);
2. a raft of 3G license agreements which recognize Q's IPR's;
3. deployment of the highest spped commercial wireless mobile in the world;
4. ungoing trials of 3G CDMA components; and
blah, blah, blah.

What I do understand is that NOK is really gambling with its 35% market share in the present 2G. (Nothing NOK would like more then to freeze the planet in 2G.) [BTW, what wat MOT's share of the analog/pager market at the peak?]

The fool who wrote the article has been scorned by the Fools who read it...

From the Motley Fool Qualcomm discussion board:

TMF Tee Time,
You requested information in the following post, and were provided what I felt was conclusive evidence QCOM commercialized CDMA and developed the technology from ground zero.

boards.fool.com

You then were able to come up with this nonsense.

<<Qualcomm has a bright future in wireless, but because of W-CDMA and an industry backlash against Qualcomm's stranglehold on CDMA, its position isn't as unassailable today as it was a year ago>>

Are you aware of the ridicule you have brought to TMF due to your post? Have you reviewed DoCoMo's sorry confessions? Have you considered researching this topic yourself instead of re-formatting the latest NOK press release?

This one's a little more sarcastic:
